Was interested in buying a LED Flat screen TV at Media Markt today. In the latest prospect which we received on the weekend was an offer for a particular Samsung TV for Euro 777. I asked the service assisstent in the Television department about this television and was told this was sold out. The sales assistent didn't offer any alternatives or other possibilities. It was like - sold out too bad und Tschuss!
Hello - where am I? I thought I might get some advice about the other 1000 televisions in the store but no the service assistant seemed more interested in watching tv than helping customers. So I asked - is there anything similar to this offer and wait for it. The "assistant" said "no - there is nothing like this offer" - basically giving me the feeling that I should leave her alone to watch her television. So now I am thinking this woman is not a sales assistant but actuaally working against media market encouraging customers to go to other stores or order such items using the internet - the "Beratung" is much better there.
I am absolute shocked by this behaviour - If I was a manager or owner of Media markt I would sack this assistant because she is certainly not helping sell products and only encouraging customers to look elsewhere.
A final note - the whole conversation I had with the assistant was in german, not in english so a langaug problems certainly wasn't the reason the poor service.
I can only hope someone reads this and perhaps lets the staff know in this store that Media Markt needs customers!
I can buy the same product in the internet for about 50 euros cheaper but I saw the advantage in paying a little more and having my questions answered/clarified and having a service partner available nearby. After this experience - I know to forget Media Markt LU and just order direct online!
